The battery is the heart of the electrical system of any vehicle and its main task is to provide the electricity needed to start the engine, and when the engine is off, the battery supplies electricity to electrically powered devices with the engine off. The gel battery is an American invention which, instead of the traditional electrolyte, is filled with a gel (sulfuric acid suitably prepared into a gel). The most important feature of such a battery is that the battery is very little exposed to electrolyte loss and that the gel battery lasts longer. High-capacity gel batteries are ideal for very low temperatures.
