Braking system

The braking system is crucial to the safety of the operator and other people nearby. Effective braking allows you to control the tractor's speed, avoid collisions and stop the vehicle safely. Regular maintenance and inspection of your braking system is essential to ensure its reliability and longevity.

Main parts of the brake system:

  • Brake master cylinder: Creates the hydraulic pressure necessary to apply the brakes. It is activated by the brake pedal.
  • Brake lines: Carry pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder to the wheel brakes.
  • Brake discs or brake drums: Components that are pressed against by the brake pads or shoes, resulting in braking.
  • Brake pads or brake shoes: The friction elements that contact the rotors or drums, causing them to stop.

Principle of operation of the braking system:

  • Depressing the brake pedal: The operator presses the brake pedal, which activates the master cylinder.
  • Pressure Building: The master cylinder creates pressure in the brake lines, sending brake fluid to the brake cylinders.
  • Force transfer: Brake cylinders convert hydraulic pressure into mechanical force by pressing the brake pads against the discs or the brake shoes against the drums.
  • Braking: Contact of the pads or shoes with the discs or drums causes them to stop, slowing and stopping the tractor.

Brake system maintenance:

  • Checking the brake fluid level: Regularly check the fluid level in the reservoir and top it up if necessary.
  • Brake Line Condition Inspection: Check the lines for cracks, leaks, and other damage.
  • Replacing Brake Pads and Discs: Regularly inspect and replace worn brake pads and discs to ensure effective braking.
  • Checking the operation of the master cylinder: Make sure the master cylinder is working properly and there are no fluid leaks.
  • Bleeding the brake system: Removing air from the hydraulic system to ensure effective pressure transfer.
