Coils

The quench solenoid plays a key role in stopping the engine by controlling fuel flow. Regular inspection, maintenance and prompt replacement of damaged components are crucial for the reliable operation of the tractor. If you encounter engine stalling problems, diagnosing the stall coil should be one of the first steps.

How does the extinguishing coil work?

The quench solenoid is an electromagnetic valve that controls the flow of fuel to the engine. When the ignition key is turned to the "OFF" position, voltage is applied to the solenoid, which causes the valve to move to the closed position, cutting off the fuel supply. Lack of fuel in the combustion chambers causes the engine to stop.

Typical problems with the extinguishing coil:

  • Engine does not stop: May be caused by a damaged coil that is not closing the fuel valve. The problem may be a damaged electrical wire or a bad connection that is not supplying voltage to the coil.
  • The engine stops unexpectedly: This may be the result of a damaged coil that closes the fuel valve uncontrollably. It may also indicate a problem with the electrical system, such as a bad ground or an intermittent connection.
  • The coil overheats: Overheating may be the result of the coil being energized for too long, which may damage it. This may also indicate a problem with the voltage supplied to the coil.
