Fuses

What is a fuse?

A fuse is a safety device that automatically interrupts an electrical circuit in the event of an overload or short circuit. It works by burning a thin wire or strip of metal, which interrupts the flow of current, protecting the rest of the system from damage.

Functions of fuses in tractors:

  • Overload Protection: Fuses break the circuit when current exceeds safe levels, protecting wires and devices from damage.
  • Short Circuit Protection: Respond quickly to short circuits, preventing potential fires and serious electrical damage.
  • Protection of electronic components: They protect sensitive electronic components against sudden current increases, which is especially important in modern tractors equipped with advanced electronic systems.

How to replace a fuse in a tractor?

  • Identifying a Blown Fuse: Check your tractor's owner's manual for the fuse box location and circuit diagram. Identify a blown fuse, this can often be done visually - a blown fuse will have a broken wire inside.
  • Removing the old fuse: Use special fuse cutters or small pliers to carefully remove the blown fuse.
  • Inserting a new fuse: Make sure the new fuse has the same amperage as the old one. Insert the new fuse into the appropriate slot.
