Clamps

The clutch pressure is a key element in vehicle drive systems that enables effective torque transmission and smooth gear shifting. Its proper maintenance and replacement are essential to the longevity and reliability of your vehicle.

Clutch pressure functions:

  • Downforce Transmission: The clutch pressure plate is responsible for pressing the clutch discs against the pressure plates, which allows torque to be transferred from the engine shaft to the gearbox or other drive components of the vehicle.
  • Clutch Plate Separation: The clutch pressure plate also allows the clutch plates to separate when the clutch pedal is depressed, interrupting torque transfer and allowing the vehicle to shift gears or stop.

Clutch pressure structure:

  • Pressure plate: This is the element to which the clutch discs are pressed. The pressure plate is often made of cast iron or steel to provide adequate strength to withstand the high pressure forces.
  • Pressure mechanism: The clutch pressure can be driven by springs or a hydraulic system. In the case of springs, the springs inside the pressure plate generate the force needed to press the clutch discs. In hydraulic systems, hydraulic pressure is used to control downforce.
  • Pressure bearing: A bearing located in the clutch pressure plate ensures smooth rotation of the pressure plate around the axis.

Clutch pressure action:

During normal engine operation, the clutch pressure plate is continuously pressed against the clutch plates. When the clutch pedal is pressed by the driver, the downforce is reduced, which causes the clutch plates to stop pressing against the pressure plates and torque is no longer transmitted to the gearbox.

Maintenance and replacement of the clutch pressure plate:

  • Regular inspection: The condition of the clutch pressure plate should be checked regularly to ensure that it is in good condition and does not need to be replaced.
  • Replacement: A worn or damaged clutch pressure plate should be replaced according to the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations to ensure safe and effective operation of the clutch system.
