Air filters
The air filter is an extremely important element ensuring the longevity and reliability of the tractor engine. Its proper maintenance and regular replacement are crucial to ensuring optimal engine performance and minimizing the risk of damage resulting from air pollution.
Air filter features:
- Air purification: The main function of the air filter is to remove impurities such as dust, hair, insects and other particles entering the engine along with the intake air.
- Engine Protection: The air filter protects the engine from contaminants that can cause wear to engine components, including cylinders, pistons, valves and piston rings.
- Ensuring fuel efficiency: Clean air is essential for efficient combustion of fuel in the engine. Pollutants in the air can reduce combustion efficiency, leading to increased fuel consumption and reduced engine power.
Air filter design elements:
- Housing: The air filter has a metal housing, usually in the form of a mesh, which protects the filter element against mechanical damage and weather conditions.
- Filter element: The filter element is a part of the filter that consists of a filter material (e.g. paper, fiberglass) that retains impurities and at the same time allows air to flow freely.
- Gasket: The air filter is equipped with a gasket that prevents untreated air from entering the engine through leaks in the filter housing.
Air filter maintenance and replacement:
- Regular replacement: The tractor manufacturer usually specifies the air filter replacement interval, which depends on the conditions of use (e.g. dusty working environment). This is usually approximately every 200-500 hours of operation or every 6-12 months.
- Filter Condition Inspection: Whenever you change your oil or perform routine service, it's a good idea to carefully inspect your air filter to make sure it's in good condition and operating efficiently.
