A precision steering system in agriculture is an advanced technology that enables precise guidance of agricultural machines, such as tractors, combines and sprayers, in the field. These systems use a variety of technologies, including GPS, to ensure accuracy and repeatability in agricultural operations, leading to greater efficiency, cost savings and increased yields.

Key elements:

• GPS (Global Positioning System): Provides accurate data on the machine's position in the field. Advanced systems use technologies such as RTK (Real-Time Kinematic), which increase accuracy to a few centimeters.
• On-board computer: The central control unit that processes GPS data and controls the machine's steering.
• Hydraulic and/or electric actuators: They enable automatic control of the steering system of a tractor or agricultural machine.
• Sensors and receivers: Monitor the machine's position and transmit data to the on-board computer.
• Software: Enables route planning, field data management and analysis of operational efficiency.

Application:

• Plowing: Allows the plow to be guided evenly and precisely, minimizing overlaps and skipped areas.
• Sowing: Ensures accurate seed placement, which increases crop efficiency and reduces seed consumption.
• Spraying: Enables precise application of plant protection products, minimizing their consumption and environmental impact.
• Harvesting: Ensures accurate combine guidance, which minimizes crop losses.

Advantages:

• Increased efficiency: Automation and precise machine guidance reduce the time needed to complete field operations.
• Fuel and material savings: System accuracy reduces overlaps and skips, which translates into less fuel, seed, fertilizer and plant protection product use.
• Reduced operator fatigue: Automatic machine steering reduces the mental and physical strain on the operator.
• Improved yields: Precise driving of machinery and accurate use of agricultural inputs contribute to increased yields.
• Sustainable agriculture: Optimal use of natural resources and minimization of environmental impact.

Implementation of the system:

The implementation of such a system requires:

• Installation of appropriate components: GPS receivers, on-board computer, actuators and sensors.
• Calibration and configuration: Adjusting the system to specific operating conditions and the agricultural machine.
• Operator training: Ensure that machine operators are trained to operate the system.
