The BK-1400 front-mounted, rotary flail mower is a flail mower, commonly known as a " mulcher ." The mower is so named because of its use of cutting elements, known as flails, and because the mower's mowing and operation resembles grinding or mulching grass. Due to its heavier weight than other mowers of a similar size, the BK-1400 flail mower is classified as a medium-heavy flail mower . The working assembly of the BK-1400 4FARMER mower consists of an angle gear, flail blades, a blade shaft on which the flails/hammer blades are mounted, and a durable and robust housing design. The cutting shaft is driven by V-belts, which, in addition to providing rotational force, also provides protection when the mower encounters an obstacle—the V-belts "slip" on the pulley.
