The hydraulic gear pump is a device responsible for the operation of the rear linkage, additional hydraulically operated equipment, and in modern tractors, the hydraulic pump is responsible for the power steering. With the help of a hydraulic pump, we can control additional functions of a farm trailer, flail mower, rotary tiller or TUR front loader. The hydraulic pump operates using the tractor's hydraulic system and is powered by the tractor's drive system (e.g. crankshaft). The hydraulic oil pumped to the pump goes to the high pressure control valve, where the excess is returned to the gearbox and then to the main manifold. Some hydraulic pumps may have additional sections supplying oil under increased pressure to the steering system.

The first signs of failure of the hydraulic pump j are too fast lowering of the lift or problems with steering the trailer. Most often, the control valve or pump seals fail and the pumps are successfully regenerated in both cases.
