Potato hiller U865/9 with Noctu Bomet profiling attachment

Thanks to the possibilities of modern production of agricultural machinery , as well as technological progress, farm work becomes less burdensome and more automated. For many farms, agricultural machines are invaluable as they save time, but also give better efficiency of work.

Potato cultivation in Poland began in 1683, when the potato tubers were brought by King Jan III Sobieski during his return from the Vienna expedition. Of course, potato cultivation has changed dramatically since then. This is not to say that those systems of cultivation of this raw material were bad, but certainly time worked in favor here. Currently, the harvesting of tubers, as well as the potato cultivation itself, is mostly mechanized work. The consumer receives a clean product, often already packed. Of course, this valuable agricultural machine, such as a potato ridger, is dedicated to all inter-row crops for vegetables that grow in ridges (potatoes, beets).

The choice of modern machines is huge, to make the work much more effective, hillers are used for the process of ridding potatoes. This is a very versatile device, thanks to which you can perform a number of activities, of course, faster and more effectively.

The potato hiller with the Noctu ridge profiling attachment is a machine that allows, as the name suggests, to cover potatoes, this operation performs several important functions:

• shoveling soil on the lower parts of the stems, as well as the root system of potatoes
• loosening the ground
• weed removal

Currently, it is hard to imagine a different type of work in the cultivation of potatoes than with the use of a hiller. The Bomet potato ridger has a full profiling attachment, which compacts and shapes the ridges. The weight of the attachment is 135 kg. The machine can be used alone (required tractor power of 38 HP) or with an attached attachment.

The machine is equipped with legs with spring tines on the first beam of the supporting frame, they perform the function of loosening the soil between the rows of potatoes. The stubble tines with coulters and bodies covering the rows of potatoes are attached to the second beam. The above-mentioned profiling adapter is mounted on the rear on the connecting arms. It limits the depth of the tines and gives the final shape to the ridges.

Ridding with the full attachment mounted should be done from the emergence of potatoes, because later the elements that smooth the back of the ridge can cause damage to the plants. With the elements placed in three sections , the potato ridger is used to form 2 rows (2-row version).
