A starter is a device used to start the engine and is most often an electrical device. A starter is a DC motor with a suitable gear and its task is to rotate the engine crankshaft and bring it to the appropriate revolutions needed for the engine to work independently. When starting the engine, the starter draws power from the battery and when the key is turned in the ignition, it is coupled to the engine flywheel to set the crankshaft in motion.
