The water pump (circulation pump) in a tractor is a key element of the engine cooling system. Its main function is to force the flow of coolant (usually a mixture of water and coolant) through the engine and radiator, which ensures proper cooling of the drive unit. Thanks to this, the engine maintains an optimal operating temperature, which prevents it from overheating and damage.

Principle of operation of the water pump in the tractor:

Coolant circulation: The water pump draws coolant from the radiator and pumps it into the engine block. There, the coolant flows through cooling channels, removing heat generated by the engine's operation. The coolant then flows back to the radiator, where it is cooled by the air flow (assisted by the fan). Once cooled, it returns to the pump and the cycle repeats.

Types of water pumps in tractors:

Mechanical Water Pumps: These are most commonly used in older and newer tractors. They are driven by a V-belt or timing belt that is connected to the engine. The speed of such a pump depends on the engine speed.

Electric water pumps: Electric water pumps are increasingly being used in modern tractors, which are more energy efficient and allow for more precise control of coolant flow, regardless of engine speed.
