Hammer beaters or flail knives ?

The cutting element of each flail mower is the cutting unit consisting of a knife axle shaft to which the cutting knives, commonly called beaters or hammers, are screwed. There are many types of flail knives, but we can distinguish two basic main groups of flail mower knives:

  • hammer beaters for mowing wasteland,
  • hammer blades for mowing grass,

The first group is a group of heavy flails designed for mowing wasteland, crop residues or for tidying up roadsides, and is intended for flail mowers classified as large, heavy mowers. The second group is a group of blades with a lighter design and a slightly different structure, and are designed for mowing grass or green vegetation, and are intended for mowers with a lighter design.

Dimensions :

  • total length: 110 mm,
  • mounting width: 40 mm,
  • cutting part width: 90 mm,
  • mounting screw hole diameter: 16.50 mm,
  • weight: 800 g.
What mowers can we use the H-EFGC gold flails with?

but we also use this type of blades interchangeably in heavy flail mowers of other brands:

Instead of 800 g flails we can use Y type flail blades, X type blades, these are blades that are used for mowing green grass and small wastelands with moderate or small plant thickness and are intended for heavy mowers. The set, complete set of blades consists of two single blades , a mounting screw with a nut and two sleeves .

Questions & Answers

Why is regular filter replacement (oil, air, fuel) crucial for a mini tractor?

User

Regular filter replacement is the easiest way to extend the life of an engine from brands like Kubota or Yanmar. The oil filter removes metallic contaminants generated during operation, the air filter protects the cylinders from field dust, and the fuel filter prevents water and dirt from damaging the precision injection system. We recommend replacing filters every 50-100 operating hours or at least once per season to ensure optimal engine performance.

How to properly select and sharpen mower blades for a Japanese tractor?

When selecting mower blades, consider the mower deck model and the blade length and center bore diameter. Maintaining blade balance is crucial when sharpening – an unbalanced blade causes vibrations that damage the hub bearings. Remember that sharp blades mean healthier grass, a cleaner cut, and less strain on the engine of your Iseki or Mitsubishi tractor.

How to identify the correct V-belt size and how to care for it?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
