The engine head and block coolant cooler is a device whose task is to cool the engine by setting in motion the coolant, which is located in the engine water channels and in the cooler itself. The coolant is successively cooled by air generated by the cooler fan, which is driven by the coolant pump during engine operation. The cooler is made of water channels, which are suitably arranged and encased in metal fins. The metal fins of the cooler allow for faster heat removal from the engine, increasing the cooling efficiency.

The first signs of a faulty radiator are the lighting up of temperature indicators on the dashboard or the liquid in the radiator boiling, thick steam escaping, the expansion tank cap being pushed out or a coolant leak. The most common radiator failures are caused by scale deposits inside the cooling lines, which restricts the flow of liquid and leads to failure.

Questions & Answers

Why is regular filter replacement (oil, air, fuel) crucial for a mini tractor?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
Regular filter replacement is the easiest way to extend the life of an engine from brands like Kubota or Yanmar. The oil filter removes metallic contaminants generated during operation, the air filter protects the cylinders from field dust, and the fuel filter prevents water and dirt from damaging the precision injection system. We recommend replacing filters every 50-100 operating hours or at least once per season to ensure optimal engine performance.

How to properly select and sharpen mower blades for a Japanese tractor?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
When selecting mower blades, consider the mower deck model and the blade length and center bore diameter. Maintaining blade balance is crucial when sharpening – an unbalanced blade causes vibrations that damage the hub bearings. Remember that sharp blades mean healthier grass, a cleaner cut, and less strain on the engine of your Iseki or Mitsubishi tractor.

How to identify the correct V-belt size and how to care for it?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
