The clutch pressure plate is the element connecting the gearbox to the engine and is therefore responsible for transferring torque from the engine, through the gearbox to the tractor's running gear. To simplify this entire complicated process, the clutch pressure plate is responsible for moving the tractor, starting and stopping, and changing the driving speed ratios. The clutch pressure plate consists of a housing, compression springs, and a disc, and its main task is to exert the appropriate friction force on the clutch disc, a force sufficient to prevent these two elements (pressure plate and disc) from rotating at different speeds.

The clutch disc is an element responsible for transferring power from the engine (crankshaft) to the gearbox (clutch shaft). The disc is made of a hub with a spline, which is mounted on the clutch shaft and a disc with springs with appropriately thick friction linings. The disc is pressed by the second clutch element, the pressure plate, using the friction force (no friction at the moment of power transfer) of these two elements, and sets the tractor in motion. The springs in the clutch discs are responsible for reducing vibrations generated during high rotational speeds prevailing during engine operation.

The first signs of a worn clutch are an unusual sound when pressing or releasing the clutch pedal, an unpleasant smell or grinding of the gearbox. When replacing the clutch, it is recommended to replace all the elements (disc, pressure plate, bearing) because these elements often wear out at the same time.

The first signs of clutch plate wear (wear) are so-called clutch slippage , which makes it difficult or impossible to move the vehicle and consists in the fact that when increasing the engine speed, the tractor does not accelerate. The clutch plate may show signs of wear, even when it is dirty with oil. It is recommended to replace the plate together with the clutch pressure plate and the release bearing, because all these elements are of comparable durability and wear out at the same rate. Another sign of clutch plate wear is the inability to engage a gear.
