Choosing a tractor is a serious decision – especially if you want efficient, comfortable and economical work. It is not enough to be guided only by engine power or price. The key to success is to match the tractor to the type of tasks performed. Why is it so important? Because you need a different tractor for the garden, another for working with heavy machinery, and yet another for transport or work in the greenhouse. See how to choose the right LS Tractor model for your needs.
Work decides everything
The type of work you do every day should determine the choice of a specific model. In gardening, agility and precision count – that is where light, compact machines will prove themselves. In turn, for ploughing or heavier cultivation work, greater power and lifting capacity are needed. Example? The LS MT1.25 or XJ25 mini tractors will handle mowing the lawn or clearing snow from the driveway, but they won't work well with a large fertilizer spreader.
Power and torque - first determine your needs
The heavier the tasks, the more power you need. For basic work in the home garden, the MT1.25 or XJ25 (24-25 HP) will be more than enough. For lighter field work, such as mowing or baling hay, the LS MT3.35 or MT3.40 will be ideal. For farmers who plow large fields, the MT3.50, MT3.60, and even the XU 6168 or MT5 will be suitable – machines with 50–70 HP and more that can handle heavy loads.
Size matters
If you work in confined spaces – in a greenhouse, stable, tunnel – choose a compact tractor that will easily enter. LS mini tractors are less than 2.5 m high and very narrow – they will go where others cannot. In open spaces, however, larger dimensions will be more efficient.
Maneuverability and turning radius
Narrow alleys, tight passages - these are everyday occurrences in gardening and fruit growing. In such conditions, models with a small turning radius are irreplaceable, e.g. XJ25 or MT1.25. Maneuverability also increases safety and comfort of work - you don't have to maneuver several times to turn around.
Drivetrain, gearbox and creeper gears
Most LS Tractor models have 4WD - it provides better traction and stability on difficult terrain. It is also worth paying attention to the gearbox - more gears mean greater precision of work, especially when planting or caring for plants. For vegetable producers, creeper gears will be particularly useful – they allow for very slow driving, e.g. when harvesting.
Hydraulics and lifting capacity
If you plan to use a front loader (popular Tur) or other mounted machines, pay attention to the number of hydraulic outlets and the maximum lifting capacity of the three-point linkage. When working with heavy equipment, the MT5 (lifting capacity 3000 kg) or MT7 (lifting capacity 3800 kg) will be irreplaceable. Smaller models – MT3 or XU – have solid lifting capacity and wide configuration options, e.g. PTO shaft with different speeds.
Tires – not just appearance
Proper selection of tires increases safety and comfort of work. LS Tractor offers three basic types of tires: agricultural – for work in the field, industrial – for construction and transport applications, and grass – ideal for gardens because they do not damage the turf.
Operator comfort – cabin or frame?
It is also worth paying attention to the cabin. LS models offer closed cabins with air conditioning, heating and filters, which is especially important when spraying. For less demanding users, versions with a ROPS frame are available - with rollover protection and seat belts.
