How to choose a tractor tire?

Properly selected tires allow for maximum use of the tire's driving properties and translate into better use of the tractor's power. A properly selected agricultural tire should be in contact with the ground with the entire tread face. Low-profile tires are recommended for large tractors used mainly for transport on even and long sections, while high-profile tires are recommended for small and medium-sized tractors where the characteristics of the crop require the use of small-width tires. Agricultural tires are divided into two main groups:

• Radial tires / R / (carcass fibers in relation to the tire side reinforcement at a right angle). The tire is resistant to mechanical damage, but it is more durable and more economical to operate the tractor. An agricultural tire with a larger contact area can operate at reduced and increased pressure and compacts the soil less. It allows you to change the tractor's field tasks.
• Diagonal tires /D/ (carcass fibers relative to the reinforcement of the tire sides at an acute angle). The tire is very resistant to mechanical damage, requires high pressure, and compacts the soil more. Agricultural tire designed to operate in difficult terrain conditions and with constant air pressure.

What size agricultural tire?

Agricultural tire sizes are most often given in inches (inch; abbreviation or symbol: in or ″) and are a series of numbers and letters indicating the tire width, profile height and construction type, tread type and rim diameter. The 6.50-16 R1 agricultural tire is:

• 6.50 - width 6.50 inches,
• 16 - rim diameter,
• R - type and type of tread R1 / R2 / R3 / R4, (R may also mean a radial type of tire).
