The company, founded in Sweden, initially produced sports equipment for table tennis and hockey. In 1954, the company started producing engine lawn mowers and in the following years Stiga expanded its product range to include garden tractors and petrol lawn mowers. A major achievement was the introduction of the Stiga Garden battery-powered mower to the market, for which the company was awarded the "Nordic Golden Swan" in 1955. Over the years, Stiga has gained not only the gardening market, but also the table tennis market. In 2000, the Italian manufacturer of lawn mowers and garden tools, Castelgarden, as well as Alpina, an Italian factory of tractors, mowers and chainsaws, also joined the Stiga group. Currently, Stiga products can be found in over 80 countries around the world, including: in Australia, Venezuela, Zambia and Taiwan.
