Hammer beaters or flail knives?

The mowing element of each flail mower is a cutting unit consisting of a knife axle shaft to which cutting knives commonly known as flails or hammers are screwed. There are many types of flail knives, but there are two basic groups of knives for flail mowers:

  • hammer beaters for mowing wasteland,
  • hammer knives for mowing grass,

The first group is a group of heavy flails intended for mowing wasteland, crop residues or for cleaning roadsides, and intended for flail mowers classified as large, heavy mowers. The second group is a group of knives with a lighter structure and a slightly different structure and are intended for mowing grass or green vegetation and are intended for mowers with a lighter structure.

Which mowers can be used with EFD gold flails?

Questions & Answers

Why is regular filter replacement (oil, air, fuel) crucial for a mini tractor?

User

Regular filter replacement is the easiest way to extend the life of an engine from brands like Kubota or Yanmar. The oil filter removes metallic contaminants generated during operation, the air filter protects the cylinders from field dust, and the fuel filter prevents water and dirt from damaging the precision injection system. We recommend replacing filters every 50-100 operating hours or at least once per season to ensure optimal engine performance.

How to properly select and sharpen mower blades for a Japanese tractor?

When selecting mower blades, consider the mower deck model and the blade length and center bore diameter. Maintaining blade balance is crucial when sharpening – an unbalanced blade causes vibrations that damage the hub bearings. Remember that sharp blades mean healthier grass, a cleaner cut, and less strain on the engine of your Iseki or Mitsubishi tractor.

How to identify the correct V-belt size and how to care for it?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
