The history of Bridgestone dates back to the 1920s, when founder Shōjirō Ishibashi began producing traditional Japanese footwear! In 1930, the first tires were produced. The company began in 1931 as Bridgestone Tire Co. Ltd.. In 1932, the factory's product range was expanded to include golf balls. In 1937, the company's headquarters was moved to Tokyo. Under the renamed Nippon Tire Co. Ltd., the production of various types of rubber products was developed: transmission and V belts, rubber hoses, damping elements. After World War II, Bridgestone began producing motorcycle tires, but the largest part of the company's revenues came from selling tires mainly to automotive companies such as Honda, Suzuki, Toyota and Yamaha.
Bridgestone is the largest tire manufacturer in the world. It ranks third among companies on the North American market, losing only to Michelin and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.
