The steering column is the tractor component responsible for steering the machine, and its main element is the so-called worm shaft. The column consists of two basic elements, the first is a vertical shaft with a worm block and a second horizontal shaft connected to the vertical shaft by a worm bearing.

The worm shaft is responsible for transferring the steering wheel's movement to the tie rod ends, and then to the steering wheels. This connection should be as smooth and free of play as possible.
