There are three bolt precision classes : A, B, and C, and 10 strength classes (measured in megapascals): 3.6, 4.6, 4.8, 5.6, 5.8, 6.8, 8.8 , 9.8, 10.9, and 12.9, where the first digit indicates the tensile strength limit and the second indicates the yield strength relative to the first value (as a percentage). The higher the values, the greater the bolt's strength. 3.6 is the lowest quality bolt (made of low-carbon steel) and 12.9 is the highest strength class (made of low-alloy steel).
