The valve guide is an element whose main task is to guide the valve stem and dissipate part of the heat from the valve head to the cylinder head. The valve guide maintains the valve in the correct position while the engine is running and provides the appropriate pressure for proper operation of the valves. The first signs of valve guide wear are increased fuel or oil consumption, reduced engine power, or rough engine operation. Damaged guides should be replaced with new ones as soon as possible, because damaged guides may damage the valve system.
