Engine valves are elements that are present in the head (overhead valve engine) or engine block (lower valve engine) and their main task is to properly control the flow of air, fuel mixture with air and exhaust gases. There are two types of valves:

• intake - intake valves are responsible for opening the chamber in order to suck in the right amount of fuel mixture,
• outlet - exhaust valves, responsible for the discharge of gases generated during engine operation from the chamber.

The valves consist of a rod with a plate at the end and are cast as a whole. Engine valves are made of special steel resistant to extremely high temperatures resulting from the combustion of fuel from the so-called heat-resistant steel.

Engine valves are components that wear out during operation in harsh conditions and under the influence of high temperatures. The most common damage to the valves is the abrasion of the valve stem and the deposition of carbon deposits. Sediment on the valves is the result of the use of low-quality oil and the wear of the valve plug causes leaks in the system and loss of engine power.
