The company, founded in Sweden, initially produced sports equipment for table tennis and hockey. In 1954, the company started producing engine lawn mowers and in the following years Stiga expanded its product range to include garden tractors and petrol lawn mowers. In 2000, the Italian manufacturer of lawn mowers and garden tools, Castelgarden, as well as Alpina, an Italian factory of tractors, mowers and chainsaws, also joined the Stiga group.
