The tachometer cable is designed to indicate the current value of engine speed, tractor speed and hour meter. This is possible thanks to the meter cable, which connects the special mini gearbox of the box with the meter on the tractor's dashboard. A flexible rotating cable placed in the armor transmits the rotation to the counter magnet, which also rotates. A rotating magnet creates a magnetic field that rotates the drum with an attached pointer that shows the current rotational speed and number of operating hours.

The meter cable rotates in the casing at a relatively low speed and therefore the speed indication may not be accurate with an error tolerance of +/- 20 km/h. The counter cable, like any other element of the tractor, should be kept in good condition and properly lubricated and maintained. The first sign of damage to the cable is the lack of reaction, vibration of the pointer when the engine is running.
