Cardan joint , universal joint or swing joint is an element whose main task is to transfer the drive torque from the active shaft to the passive shaft, which can be at a significant angle to each other. Cardan clutch, cross clutch or swing clutch are all correct names for a joint, which consists of two fork-like elements connected together by a cross-joint. Cardan joints are available with shafts, with tips with a milling cutter or a fork, locked with a wedge.
