Universal in-tank, submersible fuel pump for Japanese Kubota L series tractors and other mini tractor brands. A fuel pump is a device whose task is to deliver fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel system , maintain adequate fuel pressure, and deliver the appropriate amount of fuel for proper engine operation. The most common fuel pump used in tractors is the in-tank, submersible pump , mounted inside the fuel tank and operating fully submerged.

The most common submersible fuel pump failure is running the tractor with too little fuel. The in-tank pump is cooled and lubricated by fuel during operation, so running with too little fuel can damage it. The first signs of a faulty fuel pump include a loss of engine power, rough engine operation, or difficulty starting the engine .
