Connecting rod bearings are elements whose main task is to reduce friction at the point of connection of the connecting rod with the crankshaft. The acetabulums are two separate, semicircular elements that, when installed, form a circle. The bushings also have a small groove or incision through which the lubricant is distributed. The most common reasons for rapid wear of connecting rod bearings are:
- using oil with incorrect viscosity parameters,
- improper installation of the bearings,
- failure to comply with oil change deadlines,
- low engine oil level,
- overload of the engine that has not reached the proper temperature.

The first signs of worn connecting rod bearings are an unnatural, constant knocking noise coming from the engine. Worn bushings must be replaced with new ones as soon as possible, replacing a faulty element too late may result in serious damage to the shaft, connecting rod or engine.
