The engine piston is a moving element responsible for converting gas and energy generated during combustion to the crankshaft, which is then used to power the engine. The piston is connected to the crankshaft by an element called a connecting rod with pin connections. At the top of the piston there are annular channels for mounting the piston rings, in the middle there is a hub for connecting to the connecting rod. At the top there is a so-called bottom, which may have a different shape depending on the type of engine.
