The engine piston is a moving part responsible for converting gas and combustion energy into the crankshaft, and thus into engine power. The piston is connected to the crankshaft by a connecting rod with pin connections. At the top of the piston are annular channels for mounting the piston rings, and inside is a hub for connecting the rod. At the top is the so-called crown, which may have a different shape depending on the engine type.
