The glow plug is mounted in the engine block in such a way that the heating tip is located in the intake manifold chamber. The rapid increase in the temperature of the glow plug tip is caused by the current that flows through the spark plugs when the ignition key is turned to the glow plug heating position. The rapid increase in the temperature of the spark plug tip heats the air, and the heated air sucked further into the engine facilitates ignition and starting the engine.

A faulty glow plug is a common cause that prevents the engine from starting and the machine from grounding. The first signs of faulty glow plugs are increased smoke coming from the exhaust system when starting the engine, excessive vibration shortly after starting the engine or excessively loud engine operation.
