Product description

How to choose a tire for a tractor?

Properly selected tires allow for maximum use of the tire's driving properties and translates into better use of the tractor's power. A properly selected agricultural tire should be in contact with the ground surface with the entire surface of the tread face. Low-profile tires are recommended for large tractors used mainly for transport over even and long distances, while high-profile tires are recommended for small and medium-sized tractors where the characteristics of the crop require the use of narrow tires. Agricultural tires are divided into two main groups:

  • Radial tires / R / (carcass fibers at right angles to the reinforcement of the tire sides). Tire less resistant to mechanical damage, but more durable and more economical operation of the tractor. An agricultural tire with a larger contact area can work at reduced and increased pressure and compacts the ground less. Allows you to change the tasks of field work of the tractor.
  • Diagonal tires /D/ (carcass fibers in relation to the reinforcement of the tire sides at an acute angle). The tire is very resistant to mechanical damage, needs high pressure, compacts the ground more. Agricultural tire designed to work in difficult terrain conditions and with constant air pressure.

What size agricultural tire?

Agricultural tire sizes are usually given in inches (inch; abbreviation or symbol: in or ″) and it is a sequence of numbers and letters denoting the tire width, profile height and construction type, tread type and rim diameter. Agricultural tire 4.50-14 is a tire:

  • 4.50 - width 4.50 inches,
  • 14 - rim diameter,
  • D-47 - type and type of tread R1 / R2 / R3 / R4, (R can also mean a radial type of tire).

Additionally, information about the number of X PR canvases, the speed index, e.g. TT , and the maximum tire load in kg or lbs are provided on the tire.

Dimensions :

  • outer diameter: 600 mm (+/- 10 mm),
  • inner diameter: 350 mm,,
  • width: 105 mm (+/- 5 mm),
  • number of canvases: FP4,
  • load capacity: 1123 kg,
  • weight: 5 kg,
  • tire size: 4.50-14, 4.50-14, 4.50x14, 4.50-14.

Incorrectly selected tires for the tractor may damage the tyre, the tractor or pose a threat to people and animals and affect the comfort of work and operation, e.g. fuel consumption. Maintaining the correct pressure of agricultural tires allows for the optimal use of the driving properties of the tires, the power of the tractor and extends their life.

Questions & Answers

Why is regular filter replacement (oil, air, fuel) crucial for a mini tractor?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
Regular filter replacement is the easiest way to extend the life of an engine from brands like Kubota or Yanmar. The oil filter removes metallic contaminants generated during operation, the air filter protects the cylinders from field dust, and the fuel filter prevents water and dirt from damaging the precision injection system. We recommend replacing filters every 50-100 operating hours or at least once per season to ensure optimal engine performance.

How to properly select and sharpen mower blades for a Japanese tractor?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
When selecting mower blades, consider the mower deck model and the blade length and center bore diameter. Maintaining blade balance is crucial when sharpening – an unbalanced blade causes vibrations that damage the hub bearings. Remember that sharp blades mean healthier grass, a cleaner cut, and less strain on the engine of your Iseki or Mitsubishi tractor.

How to identify the correct V-belt size and how to care for it?

User
Ekspert Traktor.com.pl – Doradca techniczny • 17.02.2026
It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
