The engine oil pump is responsible for delivering and pumping oil at the correct pressure and volume required for proper operation to the engine. The engine oil pump is most often driven by the engine's crankshaft or a V-belt. The oil pump draws oil from the oil pan and distributes it throughout all the engine's channels in the form of a microfilm.

It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
