The rubber valve cover gasket is designed to seal and prevent leaks from under the valve cover. The most common cause of leaks from under the valve cover is overtightening the cover mounting bolts.

It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
