A V-belt is a component that transmits power from the engine or transmission to an accessory or device. Most often, V-belts are used to drive an alternator, coolant pump or compressor, and in agriculture , belts are used in agricultural machinery and equipment that are operated at high speeds. V-belts are the most frequently wearing parts of agricultural machinery due to the material they are made of and damage resulting from overloading during machine operation. A worn V-belt should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent accidents or damage to the machine. A wrong V-belt or improperly adjusted tensioner , too little or too much tension on the V-belt can cause faster wear. The first signs of V-belt wear (e.g. belt stretching) are a drop in machine power or an abnormal noise while the machine is running.
