A standard V-belt is marked with two length values Ld and Li. The length Li is the internal length, and the length Ld is the so-called Pitch length, according to the ISO standard, it can be called the external length, but it is the length measured at the strongest structural point of the belt. The designation of the V-belt is usually a capital letter of the alphabet denoting the belt cross-section (mm) Z, A, B, C, D and length. The simplest division of belts that are on sale is narrow-profile, classic, narrow-profile toothed and classic toothed.

The V-belt is an element that is used to transfer the drive from the engine or transmission to the equipment or device. Most often, V-belts are used to drive an alternator, coolant pump or compressor, and in agriculture, belts are used in agricultural equipment and equipment that are subjected to high rotational speeds. V-belts are the most frequently wearing parts of agricultural machines due to the material they are made of and damage resulting from overloads during machine operation. Replace a worn V-belt with a new one as soon as possible to prevent an accident or damage to the machine. Incorrectly installed V-belt or incorrectly set tensioner, too little or too much tension on the V-belt can cause faster wear. The first signs of wear of the V-belt (e.g. stretching of the belt) is a decrease in machine power or an unnatural sound during operation.
