Product description

MZ Professional 4FARMER Separating Tiller – precise soil preparation

Thanks to technological advancements and modern solutions used in agricultural machinery, preparing soil for lawns or crops has become easier and less time-consuming. Separating tillers are a practical solution for gardening companies, municipal companies, and those involved in professional landscaping.

To achieve a dense, healthy lawn or create the right conditions for growing vegetables and fruit, proper soil preparation is essential. The soil should be adequately loosened, aerated, and have the right moisture level. Humus and nutrient content are also crucial, as they support healthy plant growth.

Manually preparing a larger area requires significant time and effort. Therefore, for more demanding tasks, it's worth using machines that improve soil tillage. One such solution is the MZ Professional 4FARMER separating tiller .

How does a tiller work? How does a separating tiller differ from a regular tiller?

A tiller is a tractor-mounted machine designed for mechanically digging, breaking up, and loosening soil. It facilitates soil preparation for a new lawn, vegetable growing, and other gardening tasks. Depending on its design, it can also assist in removing old turf and weeds, and leveling the surface.

Three-point linkage mounting:

  • diameter of lower pins: 22 mm,
  • upper pin diameter: 19 mm,
  • minimum width of the three-point linkage: 500 mm.

In the MZ Professional 4FARMER Separating Tiller, blades mounted on a rotary shaft rotate in the opposite direction to the tractor's direction of travel. They crush the soil, which is then sifted through a system of separating bars. These act like a sieve, separating finer soil fractions from larger elements such as stones, sticks, roots, and coarse clods. The separated debris falls to the lower layer of the soil, and the crushed soil covers it, creating a prepared surface.

The most important information about knives:

  • knife dimensions (length): 170 × 135 × 220 mm,
  • knife width: 80 mm,
  • mounting hole diameter: 22 mm,
  • mounting hole spacing: 45 mm,
  • mounting with 2 screws: diameter 14 and 40 mm.

The rear roller of a separating tiller allows you to adjust the machine's working depth while also leveling and compacting the soil. This leaves the surface better prepared for subsequent work, such as grass seeding. This is one of the key differences between a separating tiller and a standard tiller, which does not provide the same separation and surface finishing effect.

The separating tiller is used primarily for establishing lawns, but it is also useful for leveling previously disturbed soil.

What else makes the MZ Professional separating tiller stand out?

The MZ Professional 4FARMER model offers a slight lateral shift, allowing for more precise positioning of the machine relative to the tractor. This solution makes it easier to adjust the device's position to the working conditions.

The tiller's drive is a chain. When selecting the PTO shaft, consider appropriate overload protection, such as a shear bolt or clutch, in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements. This protection helps protect the tractor's drive system and the machine's transmission from the effects of overload.

Key information about the drive chain:

  • number of links: 18,
  • length of a single link, measured from pin axis to pin axis: 57 mm,
  • outer diameter of the roller: 19 mm,
  • pin thickness: 9.5 mm,
  • link thickness: 4 mm,
  • outer chain width: 36 mm,
  • intermediate chain width: 27.5 mm,
  • internal chain width: 19 mm.

Key information about sprockets:

Upper sprocket:

  • number of teeth: 9,
  • diameter with teeth: 100 mm,
  • diameter without teeth: 70 mm,
  • internal diameter: 35 mm (seger type security),
  • internal diameter at the point of engagement: 40 mm.

Lower sprocket:

  • number of teeth: 16,
  • diameter with teeth: 180 mm,
  • diameter without teeth: 150 mm,
  • inner diameter: 40 mm (nut mounting).

The MZ Professional 4FARMER Separating Tiller features a robust housing made of thick sheet metal, a reinforced main shaft, and a thick drive chain. It also features an increased number of longer-than-standard blades, allowing for greater working depths. It's worth comparing this parameter with the manufacturer's specifications for a specific model.

A practical solution is the hinged flap, which makes it easier to keep the machine clean and provides better access to the main shaft and the knife axle.

Sheet thickness:

  • main housing: 8 mm,
  • reinforcements: 6 mm,
  • shaft arms: 10 mm,
  • skid: 6 mm,
  • turret: 6 mm,
  • covers: 2.5 mm.

Two shock-absorbing elements are located on both sides of the machine, above the hinged door. If a moving part of the machine comes into contact with a large rock or clod of earth, these elements help reduce impact and protect the upper surface of the housing.

Its robust design and easy-to-use features make the MZ Professional 4FARMER separating tiller designed for demanding soil preparation work. It's ideal for gardening and municipal businesses, especially for professional lawn installation, ground leveling, and soil preparation for further work.

Questions & Answers

How to choose a plow for the power of my mini tractor?

User
Traktor.com.pl Expert – Technical Advisor • 17.02.2026
Correct selection of a plow for the power and weight of the tractor is key to effective plowing and protection of the drive system against overload. It is assumed that for each plow body (furrow) with a width of approx. 20-25 cm, a mini tractor should have a power of 8 to 12 HP, depending on the soil compactness. For machines with 15-20 HP, the optimal solution is usually a single-furrow plow, while units over 22-25 HP with 4x4 drive can handle a light two-furrow plow. It is also important to set the plowing depth and the pull point, which allows for maintaining a straight path without the need for constant steering correction. Robust agricultural equipment from brands such as Geograss or TRX has been designed to minimize the resistance offered by the soil, which directly translates into lower fuel consumption. Remember that a plow that is too large will cause excessive wheel slip and may lead to premature clutch wear. Before purchasing, always check the three-point linkage (TUZ) lifting capacity of your tractor to ensure the machine safely lifts the tool in the transport position.

What are the types of rototillers and which one will be best for my garden?

User
Traktor.com.pl Expert – Technical Advisor • 17.02.2026
The choice of the right rototiller depends primarily on the type of planned work and the condition of the soil in your garden. A standard mounted rototiller installed on a three-point linkage (TUZ) is ideal for seasonal soil loosening and mixing with fertilizers. If you are establishing a new lawn on difficult, weed-infested terrain, the best choice will be a stone burier (separation rototiller), which, thanks to the reverse rotation of the blades, buries stones and plant residues deep under a layer of clean, sifted soil. For professional orchardists, a side rototiller (inter-row) is dedicated, allowing for precise cultivation right next to tree trunks. Regardless of the model, the heart of the machine is a durable angle gearbox and hardened cutting blades, which must be regularly checked for sharpness and tightness. The correct PTO speed (standard 540 rpm) ensures an optimal granular structure of the soil, which promotes better aeration and water retention. By investing in high-quality cultivation machinery, you can be sure that the preparation of the ground for crops will be fast, thorough, and will not excessively strain your compact tractor.

When is it worth using a flail mower instead of a rotary one?

User
Traktor.com.pl Expert – Technical Advisor • 17.02.2026
The key advantage of a flail mower (so-called mulcher) is its ability to work in extremely difficult conditions where a regular mower could fail. If you need to clear wasteland, tall grass, thickets, and even small branches in an orchard, a rear-mounted flail mower will be unrivaled. Equipped with heavy hammer-type flails, this machine not only cuts vegetation but also shreds it very thoroughly, leaving natural fertilizer on the surface in the form of mulch. This is a much safer solution in stony areas because the housing design holds debris inside the device. On the other hand, a standard rotary mower is better for well-kept lawns where an aesthetic appearance is desired. When choosing a tractor mower, pay attention to the working width – it should be slightly wider than the machine's wheelbase to avoid trampling uncut grass. Models from brands like Stark or Geograss also offer hydraulic shift, which facilitates maneuvering under tree canopies and near fences, making the Japanese mini tractor an even more versatile tool.
