The engine piston is a moving element responsible for converting gas and energy generated during combustion to the crankshaft, i.e. further into engine power. The piston is connected to the crankshaft by an element called a connecting rod with pin connections. At the top of the piston there are annular channels for mounting the piston rings, in the middle there is a hub for connection to the connecting rod. At the top there is the so-called bottom, which may have a different shape depending on the type of engine. Due to the fact that they operate in very difficult conditions, engine pistons are most often made of aluminum and silicon alloys.
