Product description

Mitsubishi engine piston (piston 5-23-201-64, MM435032X0K0) with a diameter of 64 mm for VST brand tractors of the VST MT180 series and others with Mitsubishi K4C and other engines.

Piston rings seal the space between the piston and cylinder walls. During combustion of the fuel mixture in the engine chamber, chemical energy is exchanged for mechanical energy, which is why the tightness of these two components is crucial. Another important role of piston rings in an engine is to scrape excess oil from the cylinder walls during piston movement, ensuring proper lubrication. There are three basic types of rings in internal combustion engines:

  • sealing rings,
  • scraper rings,
  • compression-scraper rings.

When replacing the rings, pay particular attention to the order in which they are positioned on the piston. Install the rings in the correct order: the oil control ring first, the compression ring second, and the oil seal ring third.

First signs of piston ring wear:

  • higher fuel consumption,
  • loss of engine oil,
  • power loss,
  • black smoke from the exhaust pipe of a hot engine,
  • uneven engine operation at idle speed,
  • an unnatural, easily audible sound from the engine area,
  • power loss,
  • problems with starting the engine,

These are signs that it's time to replace the rings. All of these symptoms should be consulted with a professional service center for proper diagnosis and engine inspection to determine whether ring replacement or engine overhaul is necessary.

Questions & Answers

Why is regular filter replacement (oil, air, fuel) crucial for a mini tractor?

User
Traktor.com.pl Expert – Technical Advisor • 17.02.2026
Regular filter replacement is the easiest way to extend the life of an engine from brands like Kubota or Yanmar. The oil filter removes metallic contaminants generated during operation, the air filter protects the cylinders from field dust, and the fuel filter prevents water and dirt from damaging the precision injection system. We recommend replacing filters every 50-100 operating hours or at least once per season to ensure optimal engine performance.

How to properly select and sharpen mower blades for a Japanese tractor?

User
Traktor.com.pl Expert – Technical Advisor • 17.02.2026
When selecting mower blades, consider the mower deck model and the blade length and center bore diameter. Maintaining blade balance is crucial when sharpening – an unbalanced blade causes vibrations that damage the hub bearings. Remember that sharp blades mean healthier grass, a cleaner cut, and less strain on the engine of your Iseki or Mitsubishi tractor.

How to identify the correct V-belt size and how to care for it?

User
Traktor.com.pl Expert – Technical Advisor • 17.02.2026
It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
