A locking ring is a ring used to prevent the movement of loose components on a shaft, such as bearings, bushings, or other components. A snap ring is also a type of seal whose primary function is to prevent the slippage of components typically subjected to high rotational speeds. An external snap ring, as the name suggests, is used on the outside of shafts and pins, but also as a nut for screws or threaded shafts.
