A spring ring called a snap ring after the company that first patented its invention. A snap ring is an element of a mechanical system that is mounted to prevent movement of moving elements or machine parts. Bearings, bushings, gears are placed on the shaft and axles and unsecured with snap rings can be subjected to axial displacement. Snap rings are divided into two groups, for shafts, pins and for holes, and they differ in shape at the location of the mounting holes.
