The water pump, the radiator coolant, is one of the most important elements of the engine cooling system and this method of cooling is commonly called water cooling . The engine block and the engine head are elements that heat up to very high temperatures during operation and it is these that we want to cool with the coolant during operation. Special water channels are bored in the engine and the head for the circulation of water, which, in order to be pumped back into the engine water channels. The circulation of the coolant is possible thanks to the water pump , which is most often placed between the radiator and the engine and is driven by a V-belt from the alternator. To the pump flywheel, we screw in the following order the belt pulley, and then the radiator fan, which rotates together with the belt pulley, providing the air movement needed to cool the radiator while the engine is running.
Dimensions :
The most common problems and faults of the water pump are the bearing seizure , which is subjected to high rotational speeds and because the elements that directly cooperate with the pump, such as the pulley and the fan, which are not always properly balanced. Too tight a belt , worn belt , too loose V-belt, V-belt installed at the wrong angle , poor lubrication or lack of lubrication are other causes that cause water pump damage. The first signs of water pump damage or signs of improper operation are an unnatural sound from under the hood, a coolant stain under the tractor or temperature jumps visible on the dashboard gauges.
