The PTO/PTO shaft cable is used to manually control the engagement or disengagement of the shaft that transfers power from the tractor engine to attached machines such as trailers, mowers, spreaders, balers or other agricultural equipment. The PTO shaft is a key element in tractors because it allows the powering of various external machines that do not have their own drive.

It's best to read the markings on the side of the old V-belt. If they are illegible, measure the belt width and its outer length (La). On Shibaura and Hinomoto tractors, it's important to regularly check the belt tension – too loose a belt will cause slippage and faster wear, while too tight a belt can cause alternator or water pump bearing failure.
