The engine piston is a moving element responsible for converting gas and energy produced during combustion into the crankshaft, and thus into engine power. The piston is connected to the crankshaft by a component called a connecting rod with pin connections. At the top of the piston are annular channels for seating the piston rings, and inside is a hub for connection to the connecting rod. At the top is the so-called the bottom, which may have a different shape depending on the engine type. Due to operating in very harsh conditions, engine pistons are most often made of aluminum and silicon alloys.
