An air conditioning dryer is a filter resembling a metal tube, mounted on the air conditioning lines between the condenser and evaporator. The dryer's function is to remove moisture and contaminants from the refrigerant.

The most common symptoms of a clogged dryer are:

• pressure and temperature drop
• significant drop in evaporator efficiency
• lowering the temperature at the filter outlet as well as in the filter itself
• pressure drop in the evaporator
• higher suction temperature
• increase in compression temperature
• irregular compressor operation
• decrease in cooling efficiency or its complete absence
• fogged windows
• unpleasant smell from the vents

Air conditioning dryer replacement should be entrusted to specialized service centers, as proper execution of this type of repair involves simultaneously charging the refrigerant and checking the system for leaks. Improper installation can result in compressor damage.
