Cardan joint, universal joint or swing joint is an element whose main task is to transmit drive, torque from the active shaft to the passive shaft, which can be at a significant angle to each other. A Cardan Coupling, Cross Coupling or Swivel Coupling are all correct names for a joint that consists of two fork-like elements joined together by a cross joint.
