A sealing ring with a circular cross-section (o-ring) is a type of seal in the shape of a circle and comes in many sizes and different diameters. The main task of the o-ring seal is to seal in places where there is no high pressure, but also where there is high pressure. Under the influence of high pressure , the o-ring seal takes on properties similar to liquids (surface tension, plasticity, etc.), which gives very good sealing properties. The o-ring seal is also resistant to high temperatures during operation and the selection of the right one depends on its purpose and the material from which it was made. The o-ring seal in devices operating under high pressure requires the use of a special support ring.
