Appropriate selection of the bolt in terms of strength should be made before starting the assembly, because the shape of the bolt and technical parameters may have a direct impact on the safety and durability of the connection. We distinguish 3 classes of bolt accuracy, i.e. A, B and C, and 10 classes (measured in mega pascals) of strength: 3.6, 4.6, 4.8, 5.6, 5.8, 6.8, 8.8 , 9.8, 10.9, 12.9 where the first number denotes the tensile strength limit and the second, the yield strength with respect to the first value (percentage). The higher the values, the greater the strength of the bolt and so 3.6 is the lowest quality bolt (low carbon steel) and 12.9 is the highest strength class (low alloy steel).
