A lawnmower with its own internal combustion engine , attached to various vehicles, is an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) lawnmower . There is no exact definition of an ATV lawnmower, but it is certainly a device for mowing grass, which, thanks to the fact that it has its own engine, does not need power transmitted, for example, from a tractor or other machine (PTO shaft). An ATV lawnmower does not have its own drive, so it must be towed, and for this purpose, a tow bar or a ball hitch of a car trailer is most often used. Despite the fact that the machine has an engine, an ATV lawnmower must be towed by another machine, because the lawnmower's internal combustion engine only drives the cutting shaft or cutting blades, i.e. it is only responsible for mowing the grass.
These mowers differ in their cutting unit. In flail ATV mowers, these are special ATV hammers, flails placed on the cutting shaft, while in maintenance ATV mowers, a special ATV knife or knives are responsible for cutting the grass, which rotate in the same way as a helicopter propeller.
Adjusting the cutting height of the ATV lawnmower is done with an adjustment screw located at the back of the mower. The mower's wheels are mounted on a special frame, which, depending on the position (screw adjustment), raises or lowers the wheels, which changes the height of the mower relative to the ground.
